Living out THE POWER Day 1

I am a fan of Rhonda Byrne's THE SECRET. I have waited for the next book THE POWER to be released since August, kept looking for it at the bookstore, would hold it in my hand and feel it as mine, but would not purchase it as it seems to cost too much. Now, I have a copy of the book as my sister finally got me one as a Christmas gift.

In the next couple of days, weeks, months, or even years, I will try to live out what is being said in these books. And I will write about it, and see how it will truly manifest in my life.

The first chapter is talking about What is the Power? LOVE. If you want to live an amazing life...focus on LOVE. feel it. know the love in your heart. know the love around you. and feel the force inside you.

Today, I woke up at around 9 in the morning, with all the pillows and blankets around me. It was my father's 58th birthday. There is food in our table. My mother has kept the place very clean and organized. And she has prepared pasta and cake for our brunch. In our culture, having pasta or noodles would signify long life for the birthday celebrant. Simple acts of love towards my father who is celebrating his birthday today. I am deeply grateful for my grandmother and grandfather who has brought my father into this world. For my parents who held on to their love for each other through life's ups and downs, and still raised us, their children. I am grateful for my father who has raised and provided for us, which is why we finished our education, which is why we are here in the US. and most of all, I am grateful for Our Father, who has planned everything beforehand.

Yes, after breakfast, we texted our choir mates at church. They did not respond at first. but at lunch time, responded to our invitation for a birthday meal celebration at our humble abode. The couple came with a beautifully wrapped purple gift from Bed Bath and Beyond. They gave us pans to contain, the turkey that my father roasted for his birthday. Gifts are wonderful symbols of loving and caring.

Reaching out for each others needs is a good practice as well.. Serving people food, sharing each other's experiences. all these happened during lunch time.

At the end of the day, we attended the Saturday anticipated mass, at church, which we usually do since we sing for the choir. What are the acts of love that I felt and done for this event? I wore the dress that I bought from Macy's. nice shoes to go with it. put on some make up, and fixed my hair. It all sounds routine, but then, when I actually try to feel what I wanted to happen, the love that I have for myself grows more each time that I try to make myself beautiful.

The act and persistence of singing, of standing up in front of the microphone, of singing our hearts out to the Lord, in public, is indeed a deep act of love, worship and faithfulness to the Higher Being who has watched over us day in and day out. I am truly grateful for the songs, for the talent of being able to read, to speak, to sing, to shake hands, to hug people, for all these, as routine as they may look like, are all acts of love.

When we finally got home, my mother told me to invite my friends for dinner. They brought "Crispy Pata", which is a roasted pig's thigh, a very delectable delicacy. which they prepared for 3 hours. There is love in here, from my friends, to come into our house, spend time with my family, eat together, and sing Happy Birthday for my father.

TODAY MY DAY IS FULL OF LOVE.

To end it all, my former roommate stayed to watch a movie with us. 2 long hours of simply watching, and togetherness. There is love in our home.

Father in heaven, the Higher Being in this Universe, I am truly grateful for the wonderful things that are happening in my life, as simple as it may sound. Help me practice a heart of gratitude, that I will be guided in all my moments and be sensitive to the miracles of love that are already present in all my days, in all my moments. For this heart that can feel, I am truly grateful.

As I put myself to sleep tonight, I am already grateful for the day that is coming ahead. I am going to wake up invigorated, full of energy, ready to take care of people in the ICU. I am grateful because I will wake up on time, be at work on time, and enjoy the people around me. Thank you for providing for my needs even before I ask for it. Goodnight

1-1-11 More or Less Moments

3:00 p.m. I am in the comfort of my own bed, with my white Mac on my lap, pondering about the great things that I wish and hope for the the year 2011. Every year, a brand new start is always refreshing, and there were times where I would like to plan every aspect of my life. It is serves as a gateway for something better, and a closure for the things that you weren't satisfied from the previous year. BALANCE is always the art that one needs to attain and discover, which is also relative for every person.

Physically, I want to exercise more and eat less. It's always like this. because that is apparently better. But which one makes you happier? I love eating chocolates, trying new food. Exercise.. I'm good at it on the first couple of weeks..lose it.. then keep it again as I would lose and gain 5 to 10 pounds throughout the year. And so the challenge for this year would be to see the balance between loving what I eat, but not too much of it, and exercise as much that I would be able to keep myself in shape, but not too much that I would get exhausted and quit in the end.

Mentally, I am exploring still with how I can reach my maximum potential, being a triple degree holder. Here in the U.S., everything needs certification. I want to use my medical degree, while working as an ICU nurse in the hospital. Yes, I am a foreign educated doctor who is working as a nurse, trying to live my American Dream. I am hoping that the dreams will still fuel my desire for further growth as a health professional. I am happy with my profession of taking care of people. I just wish I could do more.

Emotionally, still unattached. True.. people ask me "Why?". If I would have known the answer, it would have been easier. The pressure of getting married seems to be less at this point. I know I can survive on my own. I can support myself. But still...I know I want to be in love again. I want to meet the right person. I have tried dating for the past months, and I had the notion that it would be easy. I look into his eyes, he'll tell me how much he loves me. We kiss and make love. then get married and have kids. Isn't that how easy life should be? But there is no hard calculus when it comes to relationships.

Spiritually, I want to pray more. Listen to my God, for His guidance in every moment. I have been a prayerful person since I was younger. My mother even thought that I would have joined the congregation, as I was inclined to works of charity and service. But as you grow older, the commandments seem to be harder to follow, and the world starts to look like a gray area. One cannot live doing right 100%, all the days of their lives. And reality sinks in, your humanity of imperfection bites you, and then you realize, this is the reason that you need a GOD...

My random thoughts for the beginning of the year. I am clinging to HOPE, LOVE and JOY. in the end, my goal is to live my life to the fullest :) Happy New Year!

The New Blogger

6:04 a.m. My manager put me on-call for the day, so I won't have to come to work unless they need more people. My heart leaped for joy! I can do whatever I want!
Spanish lessons! Train for the marathon! Review clinical cases! Read a book! Write, write, write!
These are the things that I enjoy, that I love to do.
Play with WORDS.
As I was watching the CBS Morning News earlier, they were rescuing the Miner No. 10 of the 33 men who were trapped in a mining accident 2 months ago. If I would be one of those people, I would have made a journal of "My 60 days of 2,000 feet under".
WRITING.
WORDS.
LANGUAGE.
LIFE.
This is my passion, and I have always wanted to write a blog about life...but which part of it should I write about? I need to have a focus on at least one main topic. Because it is through my writing that I am able to be at the CORE of myself. I am able to focus all of my energy on what I am doing, on what I am feeling, on what I am thinking...
"THE BLOG"
Should this be my Blog title? What a creative word...but it's too general.
I would blog about musings of my experiences as I am able to magnify moments and thread upon the details of a person, picture, animal..whatever touches my soul, most of the time. For example, I can write my thoughts about the Pig-Deer from Indonesia, or the second hand of the clock ticking relentlessly in the silence of the room, as each moment passes by while I am thinking about my blog title...
"PAINTING MY LIFE WITH WORDS"
A little bit self-centered, don't you think?
"CAPSULES"
Yeah, capsules...
Capsule for the day?
A capsule a day does not keep your doctor away?
Life in a capsule?
Capsules...
CAPSULES OF WORDS!!!
Eureka!
Join me in my journey as I try to capture life in "Capsules of Words".
